TheBooks version 3.2.0 is now in production

The latest version of TheBooks is now in production at customer sites. Version 3.2.0 contains enhancements in execution platforms, security, ease of use and administration, and integration with other applications.

Execution platform support

TheBooks now provides generic algorithmic trading support. This allows trades to be flagged with algorithm parameters independent of the specific execution platform where the trade will be placed. TheBooks performs the required translations based on where the trade is ultimately placed.

Security

TheBooks role-based security model is no longer tied to COM+ roles and incorporated into the application. Administrators now have the ability to define roles that are appropriate for their organization’s needs and add functions to those roles as required. Many of the key functions in the system now support both read-only as well as update level access control.

Ease of use and Administration

TheBooks application menu is now based on the Office 2010 ribbon, greatly simplifying the look and feel of the application.

The server configuration utility known as TheBooks Configuration has been replaced by TheBooks Server Manager. It provides an improved user experience and includes expanded capabilities.

Application Integration

A managed code version of TheBooks API is now available. This provides native access for all .NET developers to TheBooks without the need for COM.

Operating System Support

TheBooks is now supported on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

New Service Bureau Business for Small and Mid-Size CTAs Powered by TheBooks

CHICAGO, IL - DMAXX, LLC and CTA Services LLC have begun a new alliance to deliver TheBooks’ comprehensive back office management capabilities for managed accounts under a service bureau business model.

“We’re excited to offer this new option for CTAs that can’t quite justify the time and expense of a full-blown installation of TheBooks, yet have reached the point in their business where just getting by isn’t good enough anymore,” says Dana Comolli, President of DMAXX. “To compete effectively in today’s marketplace, CTAs need to show they have their back office in order. Daily NAV, quick trade error reconciliation, fast turnaround on monthly performance calculations and streamlined billing are becoming more and more important. And now, with our alliance with CTA Services, even smaller emerging CTAs can have access to everything TheBooks has to offer.”

Adds Alan Zenk, President of CTA Services, “Managing a CTA business today is all about paying attention to details and managing data from several sources. When we originally deployed TheBooks for our own CTA, we were amazed at how well it handles the idiosyncrasies of the managed account business. It gave us many of the capabilities that were sorely missing from our own operation, while freeing up time we used to lose doing our trade allocations and reconciliations. It became obvious to us that we could deliver these benefits to other CTAs at lower cost and without burying great traders in annoying details.”
